Louie’s advertises that they are wheelchair accessible. So maybe that’s a bit of a lie. Or maybe it’s just a circular truth. If you want a tail-gate party, it’s wheelchair accessible. If you want to eat on the patio, it’s wheelchair accessible. If you want a table inside, maybe not so much.

We’ve included two interior shots of Louie’s on the Lake. The tables on the inside are bar stool tables. If your disability still allows you to jump up onto one of those stools, go for it. There are also booths. But the booths are up a step. I was able to step and transfer from my wheelchair, but it wasn’t all that easy. So if you can’t transfer (and you don’t want to eat or party outside), stay home.

That being said, we were able to find an empty disabled parking spot. However, it appears to have only two. True, it wasn’t next to the building, but it was close. And there really wasn’t a traffic lane between the parking and the building. The cut-out and ramp were in great shape and were easily manageable. The entrance had a double door making entering easy.

After you enter, you have to go down a ramp to get to the booths. Easy going down but I could have used a little help getting up the ramp.

The bathroom was just fine. It’s a one stall fits all. Including the baby changer. But there was ample room. And even though the stall door tries to stay open, you can latch on to the latch and pull it shut. All the hand rails were in place and the toilet paper dispenser was within arm’s length. (Oddly, that’s not always the case in some other restaurants we’ve reviewed.)

One final thought. Don’t even bother to bring your hearing aids. You could have them set to receive signals from Mars, but you still couldn’t hear across your booth. It’s LOUD!

Louie’s is part of the Hal Smith Restaurant Group. That group also has Mahogany. Known in our house as Perfection. (See our review.) It seems that even with wheelchair accessibility, you get what you pay for.
