We just finished reviewing two more restaurants from the Plaza District: Urban Wineworks and Empire Slice House. We hope to get two more from the Plaza District next week. I have to admit, it was sort of fun to wheel around the district. This review is for Urban Wineworks.

The Disabled Parking situation in the block going east from Indiana on 16th is borderline inadequate. There is a pay to park lot on the south that has two Disabled spots and there are two free spots near that lot. At that spot there is great accessibility. On the north, at the other end of the block, there is an access aisle with two spots on each side but they are not designated as Disable spots. The intersection at 16th and Indiana has accessible sidewalk ramps and cut outs and crosswalks.

Unfortunately, the lack of marked Disabled spots works against all of the stores on the north side of 16th. And it works against Urban Wineworks. Don't get me wrong, you could always park in the pay lot and wheel to an intersection with curb cutouts. Or you can do what I did (but should not have done). You can jaywheel to cross the street.

The front door was ok but too narrow. There was a lot of accessible seating and the space was navigable.

But then there's the restroom. Door knob rather than handle. Big bump at the threshold. Uneven flooring inside. And no grab rails. Epic Fail.

Odd. The restaurant across the street has a really nice, accessible restroom. I guess the Wineworks didn't get the memo. We'll be following this up.
