This restaurant had a few elements that were challenging for the non-disabled and certainly more so for the disabled. But these could possibly be overcome with the right attitude and some assistance.

First is the parking. It is right off N Western at about 43rd Street, so backing out onto Western is more difficult than parking unless the only disabled spot has been taken. Then if you are exiting the vehicle on the driver side and need the ramp, you have to go around behind the car to access it. This puts you dangerously close to the traffic on Western. If you are exiting the vehicle on the passenger side, you have immediate access to the loading zone and ramp. Either way, you face a broken, cracked, and bumpy ramp. Then there is a distance to travel on the sidewalk between trees and outdoor tables with chairs. When finally you get to the front door, you will find a single door that opens toward you one way, and once inside another single door that opens toward you the other way (hinges on opposite sides). Opinions may differ as to whether this helps or hinders easy entry.

Inside is a slight decline to the register and host station at which you wait to be escorted to your table. There are a few tables in the main area that should have plenty of space to access with a chair or walker. Then there is a bar area and a sit-on-the-floor table, both on a platform that is up a couple steps.

The restroom is on the floor level down a short hallway before the kitchen. The door opens into the single-occupancy [men's] room and you are immediately at the sink. Two steps to the right is the toilet, complete with the two required handrails. While convenient if you want to be able to wash your hands and open the door while still seated on the toilet, this makes wheelchair access very difficult. There is also no room for a walker and barely enough room for a cane.

Again, this restaurant is a challenge. There are very narrow margins for error in all directions. But if you are confident in your strength, spacial awareness, and manuevering skills (or these quailites in the assistance of another) it is definitely doable, except maybe the traditional Japanese table in front of which you sit on a pillow on the floor. Be sure to factor in your exit after a bit of saké. Wheel safe.
